Make Joy the First Chapter in Your Child’s Birth Story
Take control of the narrative so that love and peace win over fear and pain.
As a labor doula, I empower expectant parents through a harmonious blend of movement- focused guidance and spiritual care. I educate and equip mothers with the knowledge of how their bodies and their babies move through labor, enabling them to make intuitive decisions.
My services are designed to create a calming, warm, and safe atmosphere, where loving and nurturing support is not just a promise—it's a practice.
What does a doula do and why do I need one?
A doula is your dedicated companion through the incredible journey of childbirth, providing emotional, physical, and informational support every step of the way. From the early stages of pregnancy to the postpartum period, a doula offers personalized care tailored to your unique needs and desires.
A doula helps you create and navigate your birth plan, provides comfort measures during labor, and makes space for informed decision making in the birth space.
Having a doula by your side ensures that you and your partner feel empowered, informed, and supported, leading to a more positive and fulfilling birth experience.
About Me
I’m Brittany Graham, an independent doula with 7 years of experience currently serving the Austin area. But I’m also an artist and mama myself.
Having attended dozens of births, I know that when mothers are under-prepared, it can be stressful, challenging, and ultimately more painful and traumatizing than necessary.
My mission is to empower mothers through education, preparation, and movement so they can experience and enjoy the beauty of physiological birth – the way God designed it.

FAQs
-
A doula provides emotional and physical support during childbirth, while a midwife is a medical professional responsible for delivering the baby and ensuring the health of both mother and child. Nothing a doula says should be considered medical advice.
-
It's never too early to hire a doula. Many parents start looking for a doula early in pregnancy to establish a strong relationship and ensure support throughout their entire journey. Others seek doula support after noticing red flags with providers in the last few weeks of pregnancy. Waiting until the third trimester limits your options drastically, but it is never too late to reach out.
-
Absolutely! Doulas support all types of birth plans, including hospital births, home births, and cesarean sections. They adapt their support to meet your specific needs and preferences. It should be noted that many doulas are specialized - some only attend home or birth center births. I personally have a heart for naturally-minded moms who feel safest birthing in a hospital, but I also attend home births, scheduled cesareans, and everything in between if the fit feels right.

Birth often feels scary to partners, because it is all new territory. By learning what physiological birth looks like, and why it looks that way, they can confidently defend mom’s peace. A doula provides this education through the birthplanning process, and then offers guidance and reassurance during the birth, helping them feel confident and involved. They can suggest ways for your partner to support you and ensure they also have the support they need.

I work with a backup system, ensuring that you will have continuous support even if I am unavailable. I will introduce you to your backup early on, so you feel comfortable with everyone on your team. This is not a common occurrence and only happens when two moms labor simultaneously.

Yes, I offer postpartum support, helping with breastfeeding, newborn care, and adjusting to life with a new baby. I love providing practical and emotional assistance as you recover and bond with your baby and am happy to answer calls and questions for 8-weeks postpartum. I am not, however, a Postpartum Doula, but I do have a postpartum doula I recommend.

Choosing the right doula is a personal decision. It's important to meet with potential doulas, ask questions about their experience and approach, and ensure you feel comfortable and supported by them.
-
No, a doula does not replace your medical team. They work alongside healthcare providers, offering complementary support focused on your emotional and physical well-being. They don’t provide medical advice, but rather comprehensive evidence so that you can make educated decisions. They also do not perform medical tests or exams such as checking blood pressure or fetal heart tones or cervical exams. I personally do not attend unassisted “freebirths.”
-
The cost of a doula varies based on experience and location. Some insurance plans may cover doula services, but it's best to check with your insurance provider. Additionally, A Telegraham offers a need-based scholarship program.

Yes, doulas can support high-risk pregnancies. They work with your medical team to ensure that your specific needs are met and that you receive compassionate support and informed consent throughout your journey.
